In the thirties, in a factory from Kazan called Gorbunov, a soccer team was created. The name was first "Krylja Sovetov", "Iskra" and, at last, "Rubin".

From 1936 to 1949, Kazan was reprensented in the USSR championships by a sports company called "Dynamo". Among its main achievements, we can note the victory in group "C" of autumn championship 1936 and a presence in 1/4 USSR cup-finals in 1937.

But there has come a season of 1949 which became the last for "Dynamo". The command has acted unsuccessfully and has stopped the existence. After that almost 10 years Kazan has not been presented among commands of masters of the Union.
In the meantime factory workers, in 1948, the first of republic commands, began to participate in the championship of RSFSR. Already then the collective of factory of Gorbunov differed uncompromising character: in 1947, losing in a friendly match to Moscow "Spartak" with the account 2:6, they have managed to reduce game in a draw. Known Kazan football players of those times – Victor Bojkov, Aram Musailov, Grigory Runenkov, Ivan Noktikov, Konstantin Sundatov were leaders of a command in the late forties – the beginning fifties.
During the period with 1948 for 1957 factory workers 3 times occupied 3 and 6 times 2 place in the Volga region zone of superiority of RSFSR. In 1956 the command has made the way in final tour which was spent in Grozny, but has occupied in this tournament only 9 place from 13. The question on increase of a rank to level of a command of masters should be postponed. However, as it was soon found out, for a short while.
Year of 1958 has come, and, in connection with successful performances of a command of factory of a name of Gorbunov in superiority of RSFSR and class "B" expansion, the command has been included in structure of participants of this division of the championship of the USSR. In a city there was again a command of masters. Nowadays it is considered to be 1958 year an official date of birth of modern "Rubin".

"Iskra", under such name a command debuted in the championship, It would appear in 1st zone of RSFSR of a "B" class in which commands of the Volga region and Ukraine had been united basically.
The premiere has taken place on April, 20th in Kherson. The first pancake has appeared a clod – citizens of Kazan have losed "Spartak" with the account 2:4. Igor Ignatov became the author of the first goal of"Iskra" in the championships of the USSR. The structure of citizens of Kazan in this debut match was the following: Galimov, Zinnurov, V.Surkov, Khorjkov, Kashurin, Dardymov, Poljakov, J. Markov, Geljman, Ignatov, Sharipov.
Season-58 "Iskra" has finished on 14th place, having managed to outstrip only commands of Ulyanovsk and Volga. On performances of citizens of Kazan absence of experience of meetings has affected serious level and trainer's leapfrog.
In 1959 "Iskra" was headed by 50-year-old expert Nikolay Ivanovich Sentjabryov. The next 12 years a post of the head coach of the team has appeared occupied. Neither to, nor after Nikolay Ivanovich it was possible to nobody to surpass this term. Earlier Sentjabryov played for a national team of Ivanovo, and headed Ivanovo's "Textilchik". Results of work of Nikolay Ivanovich have not kept itself waiting long. "Iskra" has made at once 9 steps upwards on standings, having stopped on 5th place. In comparison with last season productivity has considerably raised - the quantity of the passed balls has twice decreased. Two "Iskra" players – defender Victor Surkov and goalkeeper Iljas Galimov - have been included in structure of modular RSFSR. So in the Kazan football the epoch of Sentjabryov, with which name inseparably linked all successes of a command 60 has begun.

The command has spent a season of 1960 even more successfully. After the first circle, having suffered only one defeat from Perm "Zvezda", citizens of Kazan were in number of leaders of a zone. However, second half "Iskra" has spent much more poorly, as a result 4 place. This season is memorable also that in June "Iskra" has visited Poland and has played the first international friendly matches: with a command "Skra" (Chenstohova) – 1:0, from a national team of Teshina city – 0:0, with "Visla" (Plock) – 8:0.

In 1960 in Kazan opening of the Central stadium has taken place. On August, 21st, 1960 "Iskra" has led a debut match on new arena against "Metallurg" from Kamensk-Ural (2:1).

In 1961 citizens of Kazan again have strongly spent first half of championship and have considerably handed over in the second. Backlog from leaders as a result was expressed only by one point. Bright game in attack remembered Amir Tufatullin who has hammered in 17 balls in 22 matches. The same year "Iskra" has made the way in 1/16 cup-finals of the USSR where has conceded to Moscow "Dynamo".
The next year in a command the future favourite of the fans, one of most technical and productive forwards of club for all its history – Victor Tetyorkin debuted.
In 1962 and 1963 citizens of Kazan have occupied become already traditional 3 place – high, but not giving prospects on increase in a rank. However all this time there was a laborious work on creation of the command capable not only to achieve result, but also to develop success at higher level.
The season of 1964 became critical. The line-up was strengthened by young pupils of club commands of a city Islam Minnibaev and Albert Fajzullin. Not too successful beginning of the championship was compensated by 15 safe matches successively on its finish. As a result - 2 place in a zone and possibility to continue struggle for an exit in a class "A". But semifinal, which was spent in Ordzhonikidze and Nalchik, with the first to attempt to citizens of Kazan has not obeyed. The minimum defeat in two starting matches from "Rostselmash" (0:1) and Ordzhonikidze's "Spartaka" (2:3) have left "Iskra" for 1959 line of participants of the final.
In inter-season period has occurred Historical event. The sport club board has suggested to replace the command name on beautiful and sonorous - "Rubin". The idea has appeared successful. Already during the season of 1965 first under new "signboard" the command has achieved the highest for that period of time of success. But about all one after another.

The skeleton of the command which have developed already some years ago, remained invariable: defenders Nikolay Markov, Victor Surkov, Anatoly Fomin, the halfbacks Vitaly Golubev and Victor Novichkov, attacking Victor Tetyorkin, Alexey Berjuchevsky and Islam Minnibaev. Throughout all championship "Rubin" was in number of leaders of a zone, having provided itself as a result 2 place in group and would go on already familiar road on semifinal tournament of the strongest teams of a "B" class.
Having beaten on 2 times of both contenders on a subgroup, including owners - the Kaliningrad's "Baltica", citizens of Kazan have moved to Nalchik where in 3 days started final tournament.

Game with Saratov's "Sokol" in which "Rubin" thanks to goals of Tetyorkin and Golubev has won with the account 2:1 became solving and has for the first time in history won the permit in a class "A", together with owners of tournament, Nalchik's "Spartak", which as a result of a steel its winners. "Rubin" has returned to Kazan with silver medals in the rank of the vice-champion of Russia.

For 8 years of performances in the championships of the USSR on a "B" class our command never would take in the total table of a place more low, than in the previous season, constantly improving the results.
